Madikeri Trip - Dubare Elephant Camp, Bylakuppe Monastery, Spice Gardens, Part 2

Complimentary South Indian breakfast comprising of poha, idli, vada and sweet semolina along with tea was served to us in the room on request. It is otherwise a nice idea to walk upto the restaurant of this hotel and have the breakfast because in that case one can enjoy the morning views and fresh air as well.

After breakfast, we set off for exploration. First we went to Bylakuppa Monastery also known as the Tibetan Golden Monastery. The Bylakuppa Monastery is situated in Bylakuppa which is the second largest Tibetan settlement in the world outside Tibet. However because of Covid, the monastery was closed.Even shops, restaurants were all closed. So here I will be giving some pictures from our previous travel to Bylakuppa.

So we went straight to Cauvery Nisargha Dham. Thankfully Cauvery Nisargha Dham was open and very less crowded. This place has been upgraded compared to what we saw last time. The roads inside the park has been properly done, markers have been put at places, a lot of theme idols have been placed artistically at different points, some amusement shops have also come up inside the premise.

After thermal screening we were allowed inside Cauvery Nisargha Dham. Tickets are priced at Rs 20. On crossing the hanging bridge, we walked almost 600-700 metres to reach the deer park. Boating facilities were temporarily closed.

We next went to Harangi Dam and Reservoir. The front gate was closed so one could not see the reservoir and the park but the back gate was open for tourists to see the dam. There was no charges for entry.

From Harangi we went to Dubare Elephant Camp which was again closed. On the way we stopped at a coffee plantation in which the coffee trees were full with green unripe beans. We also saw pepper climbers clinging on to some tall tress in between the coffee bushes. There are stretches of coffee plantations on the way and you can stop and see as much you like.

Back to hotel, we ordered for coffee. Meanwhile I dozed off. Next day we will be doing some more sightseeing, shopping and will be heading for Mysuru.
